Decadence, Truzzu: «Todde made a false statement, in a normal country he would resign»

"Decadence: never before has a legal term coincided with the political season." Until now he had kept a reserved silence on the matter, but now Paolo Truzzu has decided to have his say on the matter that risks putting an end to the legislature he was a candidate to lead as governor of the center-right. About three thousand votes had decreed his defeat, bringing Alessandra Todde to Villa Devoto, who two days ago received a provision ordering the Regional Council to sanction her decade for irregularities in the reporting of expenses for the electoral campaign at the beginning of 2024.
Truzzu pondered his reaction. But in the end he came down hard: «The reporting of President Todde's electoral expenses is the litmus test of this "decadent" 5-star-led legislature. I don't believe that the president "cheated"», he underlines, «but I believe that she made a mistake and then made others to cover up the first one».
But the real political fact is another, continues the exponent of Fratelli d'Italia, with a barrage of rhetorical questions: "Can someone who is running for president of a region, and with her her staff, not know the rules on electoral expenses? No. Can someone who does not know and does not know how to interpret such simple rules be credible when dealing with more complex issues such as Energy, the Environment, Education, Health or Transport, just to name a few? No. Can the Sardinians", he insists, "trust a proposal for health reform by a president, a councilor and their respective staff, who do not know how to fill out a report or open a bank account? No".
Truzzu looks at the ten pages with the seven points contested to Todde. There is also the issue that has come to the attention of the Public Prosecutor's Office: «Another very serious fact», he explains, «in an attempt to repair the first declaration, the magistrates were informed that President Todde did not sustain electoral expenses, because those were incurred by her electoral committee. Given that this would mean having evaded the law», is the reasoning, «the truly serious thing is that the two declarations are public documents, both filed with the Court of Appeal. Therefore one of the two is not truthful, or if you prefer, a fake». Which risks being the crime that could be contested to Todde.
Hence, a new question: "Can the Sardinians therefore trust a president, or whoever, who provides the magistrates with conflicting statements? No. Indeed, in a normal country it would be the antechamber of resignation".
The climate of uncertainty about what could happen in the next few days is heavy . Before the earthquake, the Council had dictated the priorities: immediately a functional reform of health care, then the Budget . A path that must be reviewed, according to the former mayor of Cagliari: "No one can seriously know what will happen and since we will have months of storms, setbacks and waves, I allow myself a humble piece of advice. The Council and the regional council should not venture into attempts at epochal reforms, but should immediately secure the accounts of the Region and the Sardinians. Let's quickly approve a technical budget and give the floor back to the voters. Because none of us is able to say today what they will do this spring".
