Dear flights, in August up to 400 euros to reach the island: rates for Sardinian stopovers are increasing

Holidays in Sardinia increasingly prohibitive for Italian families. The cost of flights (also) adds to the bill. In fact, the prices of airline tickets for the Sardinian airports, for the month of August, reach high levels, approaching 400 euros and transforming the summer break into an almost impossible and prohibitive mission. This was reported by Adiconsum Sardegna , which today carried out a study on air fares for connections from Italy to Sardinian airports.
Those who purchase a return flight today for the month of August (departing on 17 August, returning on 24 August) and are content to fly at any time of the day, find themselves spending a minimum of 384 euros if they leave from Turin and lands in Olbia, 367 euros from Bolzano to Cagliari, 356 euros from Bolzano to Olbia – analyzes Adiconsum Sardinia – Rates start from a minimum of 328 euros for the Venice-Olbia route, 287 euros for the Naples-Alghero route, 269 for the Genoa route -Cagliari. Prices are not overall. A possible extra cost for hand baggage, seat selection and other options must be added which can have a significant impact on the final price.
«This year too, those who decide to spend their summer holidays in Sardinia will have to face a significant expense for flights – denounces the president Giorgio Vargiu – A situation that arises every year and which seems without a solution: if we also consider the increases in fares accommodation facilities and in general the higher cost of living on the island, Sardinia is increasingly a destination reserved for the lucky few and those with greater financial resources. Our reports to the Antitrust have not yet had the desired effects, and it seems completely useless to interest Mister Prezzi and the Agcm itself, considering that they are both subjects without adequate intervention powers that allow them to resolve or, at least, mitigate the speculative phenomenon".
