A meeting took place this morning between the regional councilor for agriculture, Gabriella Murgia, and a delegation from the Sardinian Shepherds Movement.

"The Region - said the exponent of the Giunta Solinas - is alongside the shepherds and all Sardinian agriculture, has done and is doing its part with concrete interventions. But in the face of a crisis that goes beyond our borders and with even more devastating consequences on economically and geographically disadvantaged areas such as Sardinia, an extraordinary intervention plan is needed to support businesses, which only the State can take on ".

Since its inauguration, added Murgia, "the council has always been close to the shepherds and has strongly wanted the prompt application of the measures envisaged for the sector by law 44/2019, a rule adopted by the government in the aftermath of the protests of February 2019, including in particular that relating to mandatory declarations in the sheep and goat milk sector. It consolidated and completed the process of transforming Argea into a regional paying agency, thus ensuring shorter delivery times for the Community aid due. And delays in payments are a small part, due to accounting and IT problems that we are gradually solving. Furthermore, specific credit lines were financed to support enterprises, including those of the cooperative milk processing system, reducing the cost of money and favoring a continuous circulation of financial flows in the countryside ". councilor, "they help to make the supply chain stable and transparent and to guarantee a fair remuneration for the product, and have strongly contributed to the progressive increase in the price of sheep's milk, which exceeded one euro per liter. However, the generalized rise in raw materials and costs energy is frustrating the efforts made. Today the shepherds are in very serious difficulty in making ends meet. They will have the attention of the Region, starting with President Solinas himself, who closely follows the situation in the sector and will evaluate the activation of specific intervention measures with resources from the regional budget ".

In the next few days the commissioner will also meet the representatives of the other agricultural associations.
