Despite being without Jannik Sinner and Lorenzo Musetti, Italy is off to a strong start in the Davis Cup, which runs until Sunday in Bologna. Matteo Berrettini defeated Yuri Rodionov in straight sets (6-3, 7-6) to secure the first point for the Azzurri in their quarterfinal match against Austria.
The Roman tennis player won the first set thanks to a break in the eighth game and struggled in the second, when he had to come back from 2-5 down, even saving three set points from the Austrian. He then prevailed in the tiebreak.
Now it's Flavio Cobolli's turn against Misolic. The Italian, ranked number 22 in the world, would send us to the semifinals, where we'll face Belgium, who defeated France yesterday.
