At the 68th edition of the David di Donatello poker awards for The eight mountains , the film by Belgian directors Felix van Groeningen and Charlotte Vandermeersh on friendship at great heights, with Alessandro Borghi and Luca Marinelli, inspired by the bestseller by Paolo Cognetti.

Two other films conquered four statuettes: the super favorite of the eve of the night by Marco Bellocchio who takes home direction, leading actor (Fabrizio Gifuni), editing and make-up and Roberto Andò's The Strangeness which wins set design, costumes, original screenplay and production.

The award ceremony was held yesterday evening in the Lumina Studios in Rome, live on Rai 1 with Carlo Conti and Matilde Gioli conducting. Disappointment instead for The Lord of the Ants by Gianni Amelio (born in 1945 and won three Davids) who, despite eleven nominations, gets nothing. And for the Sardinian director Salvatore Mereu, who competed with the film "Bentu" in the best screenplay category .

Best Supporting Actress is Emanuela Fanelli in La siccità by Paolo Virzì, who also gets the prize for visual effects while L'ombra di Caravaggio by Michele Placido brings home the best hairstyle to Desiree Corridoni and Davide Giovani. For Il grande giorno by Massimo Venier with Aldo, Giovanni and Giacomo instead the David of the spectator, while the David directorial debut goes to the courageous film Settembre by Giulia Louise Steigerwalt which also wins the David for best actress for Barbara Ronchi.

Among the other awards, the one for the best song went to Bullets sung by Elodie in the film I eat your heart , while the best documentary went to Sophie Chiarello 's Circle . Finally, best international film Steven Spielberg's The Fabelsman . The David Speciale to Isabella Rossellini and the tributes to Anna Magnani and Gina Lollobrigida are memorable.
