A scorching cascade of metallic magma will flood the Cueva Rock in Quartucciu on the evening of Saturday the 30th, welcoming the end of summer with Metal Summer: the festival, now in its second year in a row, will offer a lineup of four bands proudly belonging to the thrash, groove and speed scene, all of island origin.
Metal Summer concludes the lively summer season at Cueva, now a hub for alternative music throughout the surrounding area, especially given the recent and often-complained lack of music venues in the capital. And from the industrial area of Quartucciu, after hosting electronic music nights, hardcore festivals, and many other live events, on Saturday Cueva will return to its roots, hosting a scene the venue has never lacked: that of Sardinian heavy metal, pure and simple, with a touch of Americana.
Starting at 10 pm, the four bands will take turns on stage, each with its own history and sound. The opening act will be Warpit, a quartet formed in 2023 by veterans of the scene, playing a hybrid of groove and distant echoes of Sardinian musical identity, defined as "Nuragic metal." They will be followed by Alcoholic Alliance Disciples, a Cagliari-based band formed in 2007 that instead leans towards a more "Southern" and alternative metal sound. The third set will then feature Sassari-based Reatzione, whose furious use of Sardinian is combined with walls of sound in full thrashcore style. Finally, the closing act will be Midnightmares, a quartet that, while harking back to the violence of thrash, colors and elevates it with technicalities and progressions.
