By now, one in every seven Sardinian families is in the "energy poverty" bracket. The CGIA of Mestre, which raised the alarm a few days ago, explains: "Between 102 thousand and 174 thousand families on the island are forced to choose: either they put together lunch with dinner or they pay the bills". Which continue to get heavier, despite the "extended" energy bonus decided a few weeks ago by the Draghi government.

The extreme case, which however is not so extreme, sees an old woman with a minimum pension, therefore 516 euros, paying a bill of 800. Or the families who previously paid 300 who now pay out 600. Examples that come directly from consumer associations Sardinians where the lines of those asking for help are getting bigger and bigger.

Count in the viewfinder

«With us the reports are constantly increasing - explains Marco Mameli, president of the Sardinian consumer associations - And in addition to the disproportionate increases in tariffs, many also protest for the counts that are made. In fact, many bills ask for the payment of unused kilowatts, which do not appear in the home meter but which are perhaps instead counted in the central one ".

"Infinity of reports"

The number one of Federconsumatori, on the other hand, speaks of «an infinity of reports. Even the elderly who have to pay a higher bill than their pension ». A tragedy, Andrea Pusceddu, however, also underlines the serious “lack of knowledge of the Energy Bonus which allows those with an ISEE that does not exceed 12 thousand euros to access help which, however minimal it may be, alleviates. Unfortunately this tool is underused and instead it would be enough to turn to a consumer association or a patronage to make use of it ».

"Insufficient measures"

"The reports we receive are twice as many as during the pandemic." Monica Satolli, regional manager of the National Consumers Union has no doubts: «The latest measures adopted by the Government are not enough. It is not enough to help families with a maximum ISEE of 12 thousand euros. There is a need to embrace more nuclei since now more and more are surviving ».
