After the Rome Film Fest and its selection for the 2026 Nastri d'Argento Awards, Peter Marcias's documentary "Looking for Nivola" arrives in Orani, the artist's hometown, on Thursday, November 5th.

This event precedes the debut of the exhibition "Costantino Nivola, Sculpting the Wind" at the Milan Triennale on November 11.

The work arrives in Orani accompanied by an original soundtrack by Enzo Favata. Marcias takes the viewer on a journey through locations, testimonies, and archival materials. The film explores the many facets of Nivola's work: his international influence, his revolutionary sandcasting technique, and the voices of family, colleagues, and scholars who preserve his cultural legacy.

The life of Costantino Nivola (born in Orani in 1911) has the charm of a modern fairytale. From crucial Italian milestones, such as his meeting with architect Giuseppe Pagano and his work as graphic director for Olivetti in the 1930s, to his painful exile in New York due to the racial laws (due to his marriage to his wife, Ruth Guggenheim), Nivola successfully integrated himself into the heart of the American avant-garde.

In the United States, he forged historic artistic ties and friendships with giants of modernism such as Le Corbusier and Jackson Pollock, bringing Sardinia to the heart of global modernity but without ever forgetting its origins.
The event is scheduled for Thursday the 5th at the Ex Capannone Val Chisone (Istolo). Two screenings are scheduled: at 7:00 PM and 8:30 PM. The film's journey will continue on November 15th at the Matera Film Festival, and will subsequently be screened in many Italian cities, accompanied by the director, before being broadcast on Sky television in 2027.

"Looking for Nivola," filmed in New York and partly in Orani, was produced by Ultima Onda Produzioni, Sky Survey System, Eolo Film Productions, Ganesh Produzioni, and Monica Mureddu, with the support of the Sardinia Region, in collaboration with ARS Arte Condivisa in Sardinia, the Nivola Foundation, the Nivola Museum, the Cineteca Sarda Società Umanitaria, and Magazzino Italian Art, and under the patronage of the Municipality of Orani.
