Construction in Sardinia seems to have left behind the long crisis caused by the pandemic . This is what emerges from the dossier on the added value produced by buildings on the island, drawn up by the Study Office of Confartigianato Imprese Sardegna .

According to the study, drawn up on the basis of data from the Tagliacarne-Unioncamere Institute for the period 2019-2021, in the wake of the various government measures, all the Sardinian provinces have left the Covid crisis behind them, exceeding the wealth produced in 2019 and thus confirming a clear growth of the sub-fund which returns to pre-virus performance.

The percentage change in added value between 2019 and 2021 shows that the best of the Sardinian territories for construction is South Sardinia with 22.15% more product than in 2019, a figure that places the territory in 19th position nationally . Followed by the Island of Sassari-Gallura with + 21.02% (22nd position), Nuoro with + 20.10% (26th position), the Metropolitan City of Cagliari with + 17.21% (34th position) and Oristano with + 15.27% (42nd position).

With reference to the Superbonus 110% , comparing 2021 with 2022, the Sardinian data show that the percentages of investments eligible for deduction have gone from 8.6% in 2021 to 69.1% in 2022. In practice, last year less than 1 construction site out of 10 concerned the superbonus, while today we are at 7 construction sites out of 10.

«We are living in a particularly favorable and propitious moment - comment the president of Confartigianato Sardinia Maria Amelia Lai and the president of the building craftsmen, Giacomo Meloni - but there are many doubts about what will happen to the sector in the coming months and years. In fact, at a national level, the first slowdowns are being recorded ».

There are two concerns for builders: the lack of adequate professional figures and the soaring costs of production prices . «In addition to the lack of materials and their now prohibitive cost - continues Lai - we also register a shortage of skilled labour: from floor layers to plasterers, there are various professional figures that the sector needs. Precisely because construction has been blocked for over ten years, there has not been an adequate generational turnover of human resources».
