23.4% of Sardinian companies with employees use artificial intelligence to improve processes and products: 5 thousand companies, almost 1,200 of which are artisanal .

In percentage terms, the Island ranks third overall in Italy: first are the Marche with 27.5%, followed by Veneto with 23.4%, the national average is 19.3%.

This is what emerges from the study “The Pioneers of AI”, carried out by the Research Office of Confartigianato Sardegna.

As for applications, economic and financial management stands out (46%), followed by marketing and e-commerce (34.8%) , then customer management with 18.8%, service and production management with 18.5% and IT security (18.3%).

The sectors most affected are service activities, construction, manufacturing, transportation and warehousing. Next come business services, waste and water management, accommodation and catering, information and communication.

"These data demonstrate how the Sardinian entrepreneurial fabric is not only reactive, but also courageous in innovating - says Giacomo Meloni, president of Confartigianato Imprese Sardegna - a signal that speaks of the future, innovation and adaptability of our know-how".

At a territorial level, in the province of Sassari-Gallura 1,751 companies use artificial intelligence, 430 artisanal (24.6%), in the province of Cagliari 1,494 companies, 247 artisanal (16.5%), in Southern Sardinia out of 750 businesses 214 are artisanal (28.5%), in Nuoro out of 585 businesses 173 are artisanal (29.6) and Oristano with 387 companies of which 97 are artisanal (25.1%).

The analysis, on the contrary, also shows how the share of companies that declare they do not know how to introduce AI into their processes remains high: 69.5%.

The analysis also shows that Sardinian companies have planned to hire almost 18,000 workers with high advanced digital skills, equal to 11.2% of total annual revenue. Of these, approximately 9,500 workers are difficult to find, with an equivalent percentage of 52.7%. The analysis shows that 69.9% of companies do not know how to introduce AI solutions into production or service processes , while 15.6% think that their business cannot benefit from the use of AI-related technologies.
