The committee battle didn't just jeopardize the majority's balance of power. After the vote, FdI councilor Emanuele Cera left the FdI group to join the Mixed Group. The reason? His failure to be reappointed as vice president of the Productive Activities Committee. Giuseppe Fasolino, councilor for the Reformists, was elected in his place.

"The decision was a natural consequence of those who feel completely excluded from every decision in the council group," Cera explained, "despite the fact that I received the most votes of all the Brothers of Italy councilors. Anyone in my situation would have done it. I waited for this session to see if there was a fair rebalancing," he added. "There wasn't. I'm okay with that, but I'm not making a big deal out of it ."

The regional councilor points the finger at group leader Paolo Truzzu: "The group leader, in this situation and in others, has not proven himself worthy of his role; he has failed to protect the group and all its members."
