Among the rarest citrus fruits in the world there is also sa Pompìa, a sort of cedar present in Sardinia.

The island, Coldiretti recalls, produces over 680 thousand quintals of citrus fruits (1.7% of the national production which exceeds the 38 million average). The regional surface destined for this production is about 4 thousand hectares managed by about 5 thousand companies with an average of 0.80 hectares. The Italian surface is about 130 thousand hectares, the companies 80 thousand (average surface area 1.64 hectares).

Sa Pompìa, with its numerous beneficial properties, was elected by the Campagna Amica Foundation as a Seal present within the Atlas of biodiversity and valued by various companies, so much so as to give life not only to traditional sweets with honey but also to the sartorial Gin alla Pompìa . Its cultivation is widespread above all in Oliena and Siniscola.
