"This call is a very important step for me: it's an honor to be here and represent Cagliari, I can't wait to see the fans at the stadium." With these words, Riccardo Ciervo introduced himself at Elmas Airport, fresh from Rome Fiumicino (he landed at 4:15 PM), ready to become a new Cagliari player. He underwent his medical at Villa Stuart this morning and is part of the loan swap that brings Sebastiano Esposito to Sassuolo .

Ciervo, a 2002-born winger from Latina, has been owned by Sassuolo since January 2022, but curiously only made his debut for the Neroverdi last Sunday, in the final moments of the 2-1 defeat against Atalanta . A product of Roma's youth academy, after a brief stint at Sampdoria (where he made his Serie A debut on September 23, 2021), he gained extensive experience in Serie B with Frosinone, Venezia, Südtirol, Cosenza, and Cesena.

His transfer is expected to be made official soon, as is Esposito's . Ciervo can play on both flanks, but has primarily been deployed on the left, a position he's been used by many coaches throughout his young career. He could make his debut as early as Sunday evening against Inter: "I'm ready," he said.
