Bruno Barbieri, the starred chef who judges the Masterchef contestants, in the sights of social users.
The reason? Butter for cooking spaghetti with clams. Barbieri published a video on his social profiles in which he prepares a great classic of Italian Christmas dinners, but one ingredient was not liked by many. The butter, in fact, used to cream the spaghetti with clams.
«Guys, how good are spaghetti with clams?», wrote the chef. «With a sprinkling of breadcrumbs and accompanied by a glass of white wine they are perfect for parties. That's how it's done."
In the final stage of preparation, Barbieri cuts pieces of butter which he adds «to make that beautiful cream», he explains.
And at the sight of this passage, the comments arrived: «But did I see butter or am I wrong?», «I didn't expect butter from you». Again: «But “rising” spaghetti instead of using butter to cream the dish seemed bad? I'm open-minded and everyone puts what they want on their plate, but the butter kills the delicate flavor of the clams." The use of breadcrumbs is also under attack. «Breadcrumbs and butter? Make agnolotti in broth", "I'm calling the police to sue you", "I wonder how you can be a starred chef".
Some even defend it, few in reality. «But do you really mean how to cook for chef Barbieri?», «Here there are ordinary people who want to teach chef Barbieri how to cook».
The Masterchef judge, for his part, had foreseen the controversy: «I always plant a knob of butter in him. I know the purists say "No, but", but I don't care."
A bit like garlic in carbonara, in short. Some traditional dishes are truly untouchable for Italians.
