From the European Union a negative signal for Sardinia on the match of the Einstein Telescope.

This is supported by the CGIL: «The EU-Germany axis which in recent days has favored the agreement on the use of synthetic petrol in heat engines after 2035 and excluded the use of biofuels, as Italy would have wanted, could have a negative reflection also in the match that sees the Sos Enattos site compete with the Euroregion of Limburg for the construction of the Einstein Telescope», explains the regional secretary Fausto Durante.

The agreement reached in Brussels in fact makes clear the «privileged relationship between the German government and the vice-president of the Commission Frans Timmermans, who is of Dutch nationality and belongs to the same political family as the German chancellor Olaf Scholz. Germany and the Netherlands are, together with Belgium, the European nations in which the Euroregion of Limburg falls and this fact must be taken into consideration in order to better equip ourselves and protect the interests of Sardinians and Sardinia, as we have repeatedly asked, unfortunately until now unheard, to the president of the Region".

According to the CGIL, the agreement also risks undermining the development potential of a supply chain - the production of biofuel - which could develop in Porto Torres in synergy with the evolution of green chemistry.
In essence, concludes Durante, "for the candidacy of Sos Enattos it is necessary to avoid the fate of Italian biofuels, rejected while German synthetic petrols are being promoted".
