The University of Sassari has reached the top of the Italian rankings in the 2026/27 Censis rankings for medium-sized state universities, those with between 10,000 and 20,000 students. An overall score of 93.2 places the University of Sassari at the top of the national rankings, ahead of the Polytechnic University of Marche (92.8) and the Universities of Trento and Udine (92.7), achieving its best result in the Censis rankings ever .

This result rewards a growth path based on continuous improvement in the quality of teaching, student services, infrastructure, internationalization, and digital communication—parameters that form the core of the Censis evaluation.

The comparison with the previous edition of the ranking is particularly significant. The University of Sassari's overall score goes from 88.8 to 93.2 points , recording a net growth that allows the University to reach the top of the national ranking of medium-sized state universities. The improvement affects numerous strategic indicators: scholarships and interventions in favor of students grow from 92 to 95 points , while the communication and digital services category makes a particularly significant leap, going from 79 to 107 points , demonstrating the investments made in strengthening the digital presence and the channels of communication with students and future students. Internationalization also grows, going from 84 to 85 points , while both the structures ( 110 points ) and student services ( 84 points ) remain stable at levels of excellence.

Among the excellences of the University's educational offering, the single-cycle Master's Degree in Veterinary Medicine once again stands out, confirming its 1st place nationally in the 2026/27 Censis ranking with a score of 100.5 .

Significant results also emerge in the rankings of two-year master's degree programs. In the medical-health and pharmaceutical areas, the University of Sassari ranks second nationally out of 23 universities , with a score of 94.5 . The result in the Architecture and Civil Engineering area is even more significant, where the University achieves second place nationally with 106.5 points , behind only the Polytechnic University of Milan. Added to these results is the fifth place nationally in the agriculture-forestry and veterinary areas , with a score of 98.5 out of 22 universities evaluated.

The undergraduate degree programs also performed well. The Architecture and Civil Engineering program ranked fourth nationally out of 31 universities , with a score of 104 , while Motor and Sports Sciences ranked second nationally out of 25 universities , with a score of 102.5 , confirming the quality and competitiveness of the University of Sassari's educational offerings in diverse and strategic disciplinary fields.
