"You have some of the worst football infrastructure in Europe. If the facilities don't change, Euro 2032 won't be held here."
The threat comes from UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin, ahead of the European Championships that our country is due to host together with Turkey.
UEFA warns that we need top-notch facilities. But currently, the only one with the necessary qualifications to host the competition is the Allianz Stadium in Turin, home of Juventus. We're also lagging behind Turkey, which has much newer and more modern facilities than ours.
Cagliari is moving in the right direction: an agreement has been reached with the municipality, and the goal is to put the project out to tender by June and begin construction in 2027, ensuring the stadium is ready for Euro 2032.
