Jannik Sinner suffered from a virus that forced him to withdraw against Alcaraz on Monday. He's feeling a little better now, is resting today, and should return to the court on Thursday. We're confident he'll be fine .
After much, much speculation, the simple truth has finally arrived. It comes from Darren Cahill, coach of the world number one : Sinner had a fever on Monday, and the high temperature, along with the extremely high humidity present at 3 p.m. in Cincinnati, did not help him perform despite his illness.
The most important thing is that Jannik is on the road to recovery and will be able to resume training on Thursday 21 August in preparation for his debut at the US Open, scheduled for Monday or Tuesday .
The South Tyrolean defends last year's title and his status as world No. 1 in New York. He must outperform Alcaraz in the tournament to remain at the top of the rankings after the US Open .
