Cagliari secured a stunning victory, defeating Torino 2-1 in a crunch match thanks to a comeback by goals from Prati and Kılıçsoy. Three golden points for the Rossoblù.
Cagliari lined up in a 3-5-1-1 formation, with Gaetano supporting Kılıçsoy . The start was uneventful, but in the 8th minute an incident occurred that could have changed the game: a long pass on the left to Idrissi, who outpaced the opposing defense, but Paleari intervened with his high leg and hit him squarely in the thigh just inside the penalty area. The assistant referee flagged for offside, which wasn't the case, and VAR called Doveri to the monitor, but the decision was shocking: the restart was a throw-in, deemed legal because "the goalkeeper saved the ball inside the penalty area," ignoring the seriousness of the foul .
A real chance awaited the 23rd minute. Gaetano entered the penalty area but missed the opportunity to shoot. He played it to Idrissi, who back-heeled the ball back, cutting through the Torino defense. The number 10's right-footed effort was saved in two stages by Paleari. In the 28th minute, the Granata took the lead: a long pass to Simeone on the left was stopped by Caprile, but the ball remained in the home team's possession. Adams then fed Vlašić, who dribbled past and fired into an empty net with his right foot, only to be deflected by Zappa, leaving his shot unstoppable for Luperto, who was stationed on the line .
A fine move by Palestra saw his cross barely grazed by Idrissi, who failed to head it home (33'). At the other end, in the 37th minute, Caprile did well to palm away an assist from Adams intended for Simeone. The same Argentine striker, a former player of the day, sent a corner taken by Lazaro at the near post over in the 44th minute .
In the 45th minute, after a Palestra run was stopped by Ismajli, Cagliari equalized: Mazzitelli laid it off from a corner and Prati turned it in from the center of the area . It was 1-1, and so the half-time break went to a stoppage time of two and a half minutes (short, only the check had stopped the game for four minutes).
The second half was unchanged. Torino tried early, with a header from Vlašić saved by Caprile. The Granata returned in the 58th minute with a low cross from Pedersen to Adams, but Deiola's intervention was crucial to beat him to the center of the box. On the following move, Gaetano found space on the right and crossed into the middle, where Kılıçsoy was free, but he missed his shot with his left foot and missed the target from a great position .
Kılıçsoy didn't capitalize on his first chance of the match, but he did capitalize on his second, and in spectacular fashion. In the 66th minute, the Turk won the ball from just outside the halfway line, advanced rapidly, though not at his fastest, and reached the edge of the penalty area, where he dribbled past three opponents before firing a powerful, low left-footed shot . It was the striker's second consecutive goal, even more beautiful than the one against Pisa.
After the 1-2 draw, the changes came: Esposito for Gaetano for Cagliari, Zapata and Nkounkou for Adams, and Lazaro for Torino. Then, in the 72nd minute, Cavuoti and Borrelli came on for Mazzitelli and the exhausted Kılıçsoy. With a quarter of an hour remaining, a powerful left-footed shot from Gineitis was saved by an equally excellent Caprile, who stretched to parry the shot . For the final ten minutes, the Granata replaced Gineitis with İlkhan and Aboukhlal for the injured Pedersen. İlkhan himself capitalized on a mistake by Idrissi in the 83rd minute and advanced for a right-footed shot that was saved in two attempts by Caprile.
Obert, replacing Prati – who asked to be substituted – was Pisacane's last substitution (of four), making it in the 84th minute. For Torino, Nkounkou had a go in the space of a few seconds, first with a left-footed shot over the bar and then with a cross for Simeone's header, which was saved in two stages by Caprile. In the 90th minute, Caprile made a great save after Zapata's aerial deflection on a loose ball in the box .
The five minutes of injury time began with a low right-footed shot from Simeone, which went wide and was not deflected as the Argentine had requested. In the 94th minute, Aboukhlal ran forward, crossed, and Ngonge scored with a powerful left-footed volley. However, the referee flagged that the ball had gone out of bounds before the cross, so the score was still 2-2 .
