A guitar, a chair, and a basic stage: that's all it took for Tommy Emmanuel to transform Pavilion D of the Cagliari Fair into a temple of acoustic music.

The concert, part of the 2026 Italian tour of the 2024 Grammy Award and promoted by the "Form and Poetry in Jazz" Association directed by Nicola Spiga, also featuring a stop at the Teatro Verdi in Sassari, attracted a large audience, ready to attend a true masterclass in style, technique, and musical communication.

The evening was opened by Alberto Lombardi, a Roman guitarist among the most appreciated on the national fingerstyle scene.

His performance, intense and attentive to sound details, set the stage with elegance and personality.

When Tommy Emmanuel took the stage, the atmosphere immediately became energized.

The Australian Maestro has no need for stage props: his charismatic and smiling presence is enough to capture attention.

From the very first bars, the stylistic signature that makes him unique emerged: the ability to transform the guitar into a complete orchestra, where bass, melody, harmony and percussion coexist in perfect balance.

The concert was a continuous alternation of overwhelming virtuosity and moments of exceptional emotional intensity.

Tommy Emmanuel displayed an impeccable and astonishing technique, but never an end in itself: every passage, even the most spectacular, was always at the service of the musical narrative.

During the more dynamic pieces, the famous tightrope walker's many fans enthusiastically followed the rhythm, while during the more intimate passages, the room gathered in an almost reverential silence to listen to his magnetic performances.

The human dimension of the show is no less significant.

Emmanuel engaged with the audience effortlessly, alternating stories, smiles, short sketches, and anecdotes, creating a sense of camaraderie that made the event even more engaging.

The feeling was that of attending not just a concert, but an authentic encounter between artist and audience.

The standing ovation came at the end after a duo session with Alberto Lombardi and the many encores loudly requested by the thousands at the Fair, sealing an evening of the highest artistic level.

Tommy Emmanuel confirmed his stature as a sacred monster of world guitar and his extraordinary ability to thrill with a single instrument, demonstrating, once again, that, in the right hands, six strings can tell an entire universe.
