The magic of ballet returns to the Lirico di Cagliari with Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake . The immortal choreography of Rudolf Nureyev and the stars of the corps de ballet of the Teatro alla Scala delighted the audience.

Tuesday 3 October at 8.30pm (shift A) – after the summer break – the 2023 opera and ballet season resumes with the sixth , highly anticipated appointment : the great classical dance author returns with the famous ballet in four acts choreographed by Rudolf Nureyev , by Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov, and music by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. The title in Cagliari has been missing since 2017 . The principal dancers, soloists and artists of the corps de ballet of the Teatro alla Scala will perform on stage, one of the most famous and prestigious dance companies in the world and the greatest example of the romantic choreographic tradition that returns to the city, the only Italian stop on the 2023 tour, after A Midsummer Night's Dream in September 2009 and Le corsaire in May 2019. The two principal dancers are Nicoletta Manni (Odette/Odile) and Timofej Andrijashenko (Prince Siegfried), a couple on stage and in life.

The staging designed by Ezio Frigerio (scenes) and Franca Squarciapino (costumes) balances lights and colors, reflecting the romanticism of music in a reference to Claude Monet , to represent Tchaikovsky's white swans on the placid yet restless waters of the Giverny garden. The Teatro Lirico Orchestra of Cagliari is directed by Kevin Rhodes. The ballet has a total duration of approximately 2 hours and 45 minutes including an interval and is repeated: Wednesday 4 October at 8.30pm (round B); Thursday 5 October at 7pm (shift F); Friday 6 October at 8.30pm (shift C); Saturday 7 October at 3.30pm (shift E); Saturday 7 October at 9pm (round G); Sunday 8 October at 5pm (round D).

The start time of the performance on 7 October (shift E), initially set for 4pm, was brought forward to 3.30pm.
