« A person who wants to go from Rome to Cagliari and return tomorrow should be prepared to spend 627 euros . A Sardinian citizen, while benefiting from the continuous prices, would have serious difficulties in finding a place. And if you look at next month, things are even worse: during the holidays, the standard price of a one-way flight to Sardinia (purchased one month in advance) is 339 euros. More or less the price one usually pays to get to New York ».

The group leader of the Progressives in the regional council Francesco Agus denounces it.

"The territorial (dis)continuity is reaching its peak without explanations and, least of all, solutions arriving from the Region" continues Agus. «Because in the meantime, for more than two months, Sardinia has been without Transport Councilor. The President carries out his office ad interim in the time that remains to him between the infinite reshuffle and a trip to Rome to kiss the slipper of some Minister».

Again, underlines Agus, « the critical issues are now undeniable . Last week all the employers' organizations audited in the insularity commission reported the explosive crisis of Sardinian transport. They asked for the overcoming of the critical issues of the moment and an overall rethinking of the current system, which is decades old and overtaken by the facts. Confindustria has even presented a study on alternative models to the one currently in force. Tonight, another one will be proposed in a debate organized by the bar association.

Several months ago we reported the distortions of the current tender. Incapable of ensuring true continuity in the two Sardinian airports with less traffic and even harmful to the Cagliari airport: any other system, even the free market, would have ensured better services for Sardinians and for those who need to reach the island than those provided during this winter season".

«On these points, and this is a positive fact, we found great agreement among the souls of Sardinian society. The negative fact is that the notice to be studied by the regional council does not seem to take these requests into consideration at all and reproduces, no more, no less, the distortions of the model currently in force », adds Agus. Who concludes: «It is useless to meet in the living room and discuss a Sardinian transport system if then the decisions are made by others in the dining room in complete solitude. For these reasons we have asked for the immediate summoning of the Councilor for transport (or of the President of the Region, should he wish to continue to prevaricate on the reshuffle) in the Transport Commission".
