Following the new third jersey, which debuted in the relegation match against Venezia on May 18th, and the first one seen last Saturday in the friendly against Hannover, Cagliari has now unveiled its second kit for the upcoming season. It's called "Ai Sardi" (To the Sardi), a reference to Costantino Nivola's work of the same name. The jersey reinterprets the material traits of the famous Sardinian sculptor's art: forms that convey memory, identity, and pride. It will be worn for the first time on Saturday, during the Gigi Riva Trophy at the Unipol Domus (8:30 PM) in the friendly against Saint-Étienne .
The Cagliari away jersey is made of Check Mesh polyester fabric, made from Repreve-certified recycled yarn, with recycled Light Spandex Mesh panels on the sleeves and sides. Both fabrics are lightweight and breathable. A sequence of pictograms on the armholes recalls the style of Costantino Nivola's modernist sculptures .
The Cagliari Calcio crest is featured on the front, over the left chest, and the Eye Sport logo is on the left chest . The ribbed collar features a drawstring tie inspired by the iconic 1969-70 kit. The drawstrings are red on the inside and blue on the outside. The sweatband features the repeated writing "Cagliari Calcio" and "EYE Sport."
On the back, at the top, is the writing "Ovunque tu sarai." The coordinates of the centerfield of Cagliari's stadium, the Unipol Domus, are printed along the bottom of the shirt. A label is attached inside, certifying the wearer, if the shirt was used by players or an individual fan .
