Federico La Penna of the Roma 1 section has been appointed as referee for the early match at Unipol Domus, which opens matchday 12. He will have Domenico Palermo (Bari) and Andrea Bianchini (Perugia) as assistants, with Maurizio Mariani (Aprilia) as the fourth official. His debut came on November 28th, 2015, in a 4-0 defeat at Brescia, a match remembered for Daniele Dessena's terrible injury (Racine Coly's killer foul was incredibly punished only with a yellow card, as VAR didn't yet exist at the time) . His last win was the 2-0 victory for Napoli on May 23rd, while his first victory came on April 30th, 2023 (2-1 against Ternana in Serie B) and on October 18th, 2020 (2-3 in Turin against the Granata).
