The nuraghe aren't just ancient stones: they are a voice. And starting Tuesday, November 25th, that voice will echo at Sa Manifattura, in Cagliari, for a four-day event entirely dedicated to the Nuragic civilization and its contemporary history.
Four days of exhibitions, meetings, scientific discussions, and international debates to tell the world that this millennia-old heritage can still speak, and do so forcefully. The title chosen by the organizers is a declaration of intent: "The Nuraghe Speak to the World."
The event, promoted by the association La Sardegna verso l'UNESCO , brings together in its fourth edition a packed program that from 25 to 28 November focuses on the Nuragic monumentality, its identity value and the regional strategy for the protection and enhancement of the 32 sites included in the UNESCO Tentative List.
The highlight will be Thursday the 27th, with the third International Conference, dedicated to the presentation of the strategic project for the valorization of the Nuragic civilization implemented by the Sardinia Region. A review of "things done" and "things to do" will be presented by researchers and professors from the Universities of Cagliari and Sassari, Crenos, CRS4, and the experts involved in the process.
The conference will be introduced by the association's president, Pierpaolo Vargiu, and opened by the president of the Region, Alessandra Todde. After the institutional greetings, the president of the Scientific Committee, Anna Depalmas, will provide an initial scientific overview of the proceedings.
The day will be divided into two thematic sessions. The first, in the morning, will address infrastructure projects to improve the use and accessibility of Nuragic sites, with contributions from DICAAR (University of Cagliari) and DADU (University of Sassari).
In the afternoon, starting at 3:00 PM, Councilor for Education and Culture, Ilaria Portas, will open the session dedicated to the network of 32 sites, the governance models, and the technological tools developed by Crenos, G-Lab, and CRS4. The international guest speaker will be Xavier Casanovas, coordinator of the ICOMOS-Spain Heritage Committee.
This will be followed by the roundtable discussion "A Project That Unites," with representatives of ANCI, the Barumini Foundation, CAL, and the Mont'e Prama Foundation. The proceedings will be closed by the regional budget councilor, Giuseppe Meloni.
The program will kick off on Tuesday the 25th at 10:00 a.m. with the inauguration of the "Sardegna Nuragica" exhibition, attended by Regional Council President Piero Comandini. The exhibition, open until Friday, showcases pilot projects for the use of UNESCO-nominated sites, with multimedia installations, themed totems, and guided tours. The day will conclude with a focus on the Cuccurada nuraghe in Mogoro, presented by archaeologist Riccardo Ciccilloni.
Wednesday the 26th will be a school day : meetings, visits, and activities for the "Nuraghes ImpariS" competition will fill the morning. In the afternoon, the NuragicReturn project – Towards an Atlas of Nuragic Monuments will be presented, with the participation of representatives of regional departments, universities, and the Superintendency.
The week will close on Friday 28th, once again with the schools as protagonists, before the official closing of the exhibition at 1pm .
