Cagliari's situation continues ahead of tomorrow night's match at the Unipol Domus against Lecce, led by former player Di Francesco. In addition to Deiola, Borrelli, Folorunsho, Belotti, and Felici, Zé Pedro (calf strain) and Gaetano (adductor problem) will also be sidelined , Fabio Pisacane announced during the press conference at the Crai Sport Center in Assemini, immediately after the final training session. "More than the absences," the Rossoblu coach stated, "I'm interested in who's available." One in particular, Yerry Mina : " He trained very well. We needed to manage him; even rest is training. So he'll be there, and his leadership is crucial for us . We're supporting him to give him a starring role in the final stages and bring him to the World Cup in the best possible condition."
Pisacane is keen to point out: "It won't be a match point for survival, and there are still too many games to go until the end of the championship." On the eve of the first leg, he used the term "final" for the first time. "I wanted to convey the message that for me, all direct clashes are like finals," he explains. "And this one too," he points out, "will be a complicated and important match. It will be a battle of details and reading. And being hungry will be crucial." A different match than the one played (and won) five months ago at the Stadio Via del Mare. "The only thing that's certain is that there will be the same difficulties. We respect Lecce," Pisacane clarifies, reuniting with Di Francesco, with whom he didn't have a great relationship when he coached him, right on the island, in the 2020-2021 season. "What happened is water under the bridge, we've made it clear. I find an experienced coach, who has worked in the top division for many years and who has left me something from a technical and tactical point of view" .
The injuries and precarious conditions of several players who have been struggling continuously in recent weeks are prompting Pisacane to make further assessments. "It's possible that with Gaetano's absence, the structure could change," he admits, indirectly predicting the two-man midfielder. Regarding his return to the Olimpico in Dossena , he then says: " After the match against Roma, I congratulated him. It wasn't easy to return to the pitch after eleven months and an injury like that, without even playing a match with the Como Primavera. And the fact that he remained on the pitch until the end and actually improved over the distance was no small feat."
Finally, a comment on the storm engulfing the refereeing world following yet another blunder in Inter-Juventus last night. "I don't like media-driven trials," Pisacane prefaced. "One thing's certain: football is losing credibility."
