Fabio Pisacane is increasingly the next coach of Cagliari. After yesterday's meeting between Tommaso Giulini and Paolo Vanoli, which took place in the offices of Fluorsid in Milan , the choice of the rossoblù president is increasingly to entrust the bench to the coach who led the Primavera, with the historic conquest of the Coppa Italia exactly two months ago (9 April). Gianluca Di Marzio of Sky Sport anticipates it.

Pisacane, born in 1986, played with Cagliari from 2015 to 2021: between Serie A, B and Coppa Italia 152 appearances and 5 goals (including the last ever at Sant'Elia, in 2017 against Milan). Then, in 2022, he joined Cagliari in Fabio Liverani's staff in Serie B and after the latter's dismissal he had already had a bench in the first team, in the 2-0 victory over Cosenza on 26 December 2022 while waiting for the arrival of Claudio Ranieri. Then he moved to the Primavera, with two and a half very positive seasons .

Vanoli was the preference of sporting director Nereo Bonato. This is why we are now also moving towards a separation with the manager, in charge since November 2022. The former Torino coach is in the running for the Parma bench and had already been sounded out by Cagliari a year ago, before choosing the granata. Then the club had defined the agreement with Nicola, who remained in charge eleven months before the separation last Wednesday .

Pisacane, barring any further surprises, will coach Cagliari (and it will be his debut as a coach in Serie A) starting from the meeting in early July . The team will then go on retreat in Ponte di Legno and will debut in the Coppa Italia on 16-17 August against the winner of Avellino-Audace Cerignola (the Irpini, curiously, are one of the teams where he played in his career). Then, the following weekend, the first of the championship, again at the Domus, against Fiorentina.
