Cagliari won the second edition of the Gigi Riva Trophy: at Unipol Domus, they beat Nice 4-2 on penalties after a 0-0 draw in the 90th minute. Caprile saved two spot kicks, with Albarracín winning the match.
The pace was slow at the start, the heat taking over: the first chance was a right-footed strike from Clauss that grazed the post with Caprile immobile. It came in the 11th minute, just before the stadium gave a long round of applause (as it always does at this time) to Gigi Riva . In the 19th minute, immediately after a forced substitution for the French (Camara for the injured Aberget), Fazzini's free kick and Paul Mendy's header went wide.
