Following Jacopo Fazzini, Harry Winks has joined. The signing of the English midfielder, born in 1996, who also made ten appearances for the Three Lions between 2017 and 2020, is now official. He arrives from Leicester City and, like his new partner, underwent a medical at Villa Stuart on Monday morning before arriving at Elmas Airport the following afternoon .
For Winks, the agreement includes a one-year contract with an automatic renewal for another season if Cagliari remain in safety . The thirty-year-old Englishman is Cagliari's fourth signing for the 2026-27 season, curiously all of whom have been in midfield so far: the others, including Fazzini, are Demi Akarakiri and Alessandro Romano. Compared to the three of them, he is a more experienced player, including internationally, who will take over the midfielder spot in the squad, where Gianluca Gaetano, who has since moved to Atalanta, has established himself.
Cagliari becomes Winks' second Italian team, having already played in Serie A in the 2022-23 season with Sampdoria (20 appearances) . The Blucerchiati were his first experience away from Tottenham, where he came through the youth ranks, making his first-team debut on November 27, 2014, in the Europa League against Partizan. He made 203 appearances (and five goals) for Spurs, 128 of which came in the Premier League, with his highlight coming in the 2019 Champions League final defeat to Liverpool, where he started. From 2023, he joined Leicester City, where he won the Championship in his first year, followed by two consecutive relegations.
