Matteo Prati has signed another outgoing transfer, this time with the possibility of him leaving Cagliari permanently based on the clauses in his agreement. The midfielder, returning from a six-month loan spell at Torino, has joined Real Racing Club de Santander (a newly promoted team to the Spanish La Liga) on loan until June 30, 2027, with an obligation to buy if certain conditions are met. His transfer follows that of Agustín Albarracín, who also left for Albacete in Spain yesterday .
The highlight of Prati's experience at Cagliari, which began in the summer of 2023 after a great performance at the Domus against the Rossoblù in Serie B, was undoubtedly the goal that saved him from relegation in Reggio Emilia against Sassuolo in May 2024. In the following two seasons, however, he failed to establish himself further and dropped down the pecking order first under Davide Nicola and then under Fabio Pisacane.
Prati has made 63 appearances for Cagliari , scoring three goals, the last of which came as a late substitute in the Coppa Italia match against Arezzo on August 14th. This will be his first appearance outside of Italy.
