Tomorrow evening, at 6 pm, in Cagliari, at the Manifattura on Viale Regina Margherita, the book by Pierpaolo Vargiu “ Cagliari anni '70, noi c'eravamo ” published by Gia will be presented.
"It is a trip into the past, conducted with lightness and irony, without any melancholy, which allows us to rewind the tape of about fifty years, to take us around the streets of a city that no longer exists, with characters, places and habits that make you smile because they seem to be from another galaxy", explains Vargiu, former regional councilor and deputy, as well as author of the books "Quelli di piazza del Carmine" (Carlo Delfino Editore) and "Sano come un pesce" with Anna Canepa for Bookabook. «On the presentation evening, Maria Antonietta Mongiu (the teacher) and Maurizio Melis (the class president) will take us on a walk through the city, suspended between Cagliari's championship and the discovery of the moon, between Sundays with austerity and picnics on Satas buses, between second-run cinema, discos and caddozzonis, in a journey that has been different for each of us, but also incredibly similar for an entire generation. We will smile at the differences between the young people of Cagliari today and their ancestors of yesterday, but without asking ourselves even for an instant "if it was better or worse then than now".
A very funny memoir in which many Cagliaritans emerge from a city that only partly no longer exists and partly is a child of those years. Among the most curious characters is Colonel Pippo Pisano who made way (not fully convinced) for a very young Vargiu in the Liberal Party.
