Not just hard work, faith and emotions. The wait is growing for the Corsa degli Scalzi, one of the main traditional events in Sardinia, from August 31st to September 1st in Cabras. At the Cantina Contini, from August 22nd, the exhibition “Aspettando San Salvatore” will be set up, which bears witness to the last decade of celebrations for the patron saint of Sinis, curated by the photographer and videomaker from Cagliari, Ettore Cavalli. In this exhibition Cavalli presents a selection of shots taken during various editions of the "Corsa degli Scalzi", from the most official moments to the most private and intimate ones of the runners, in preparation, and at dusk, waiting to walk barefoot the seven kilometers that separate Cabras from the Sanctuary of San Salvatore. For Cavalli, a photographer accustomed to documenting breathtaking landscapes and cultural traditions all over the world for prestigious nature and tourism magazines, the Corsa degli Scalzi remains an event of “one of the most unique traditions in the world”, as well as “an inexhaustible source of inspiration, which offers the opportunity to capture the most authentic soul of Sardinian culture”. The inauguration will be held on August 22nd in the cellar in the presence of the photographer, the authorities and the Organizing Committee of the Race. The exhibition will then be open to all guests of the cellar until September 30th.
