Over ten billion euros and only 300 million euros of manageable funds . These are the numbers of the 2026 Budget, which should be approved on time, therefore by December 31st, and which is at the center of a majority meeting today with all the Campo Largo councilors meeting with Budget Councilor Giuseppe Meloni and Regional President Alessandra Todde.
For now, the possibility of increasing the manageable funds seems out of the question. Meloni spoke of "a difficult situation regarding revenue, there is no new margin. There is a new increase that we must fully utilize to adjust the regional healthcare fund following the national fund." Therefore, anticipation is growing for the convening of a meeting with the national government aimed at resolving the €1.7 billion revenue dispute, which could bring in around €1 billion for Sardinia. The Region hopes for a quick agreement so it can plan new resources as early as the 2026 budget.
"Sardinia boasts a credit of approximately €1.7 billion, " Todde recalled, "resources that have not been recognized in recent years. We have requested a meeting with Minister Giorgetti—I also spoke with him again in recent days— to clarify how much of this money can be used in the next budget and, above all, to overcome a mechanism that has for too long blocked the funds due to our Region within the confines of the central government."
The president then announced that a detailed document of requests has been prepared, which also includes a review of the 2009 spending caps, which are now outdated and no longer adequate for the economic and institutional reality of an autonomous region like Sardinia.
