Budget: The Todde Administration wants to increase the salaries of councilors' staff.

The green light for the €2 billion budget change is expected late this evening or tomorrow morning. Yet, work is progressing slowly. The Chamber is currently debating Article 9 on personnel , and controversy abounds. This particularly concerns an amendment from the Council that increases the allowances of members of the departments' cabinets by 10%.
This is a reinstatement. The corrective measure, in fact—as minority rapporteur Fausto Piga (FdI) pointed out at the opening of the article's general discussion— repeals a section of a 2012 law that had cut the same allowances for spending review purposes.
Piga himself has introduced an amendment to repeal the law on staff passed in the previous legislature: "We would vote for it again, but we want to expose false moralists like you, who have actually multiplied the job creation."
Article 9 also includes the Council's amendment increasing the resources for implementing the single sector from 30 to 50 million, i.e., equalizing the salaries of regional employees with those of local authorities.
