There is strong concern about the spread of bovine dermatitis , with four outbreaks confirmed in Sardinia (three in the Nuoro area and one in the Sassari area) and one open in the province of Mantua, for a total of over 900 animals involved.

Cia-Agricoltori Italiani reports this, explaining that the situation risks compromising the stability of the entire sector, especially in the areas with a greater livestock vocation.

For this reason, Cia has sent a letter to the Minister of Agriculture, Francesco Lollobrigida, to identify the most effective tools to support the sector and address this new challenge promptly and responsibly.

"Sharing the need to adopt all health measures to contain and prevent the disease - writes the national president of Cia, Cristiano Fini - we believe it is essential that institutional attention is maintained at all levels, with constant monitoring of the evolution of the health situation".

Equally urgent is addressing the economic repercussions for livestock farms. "Already today," explains Fini, "we are starting to see damages related to the extraordinary management of stalled animals, the blocking of movements and the loss of income. Therefore, extraordinary compensation measures are needed to protect the work of breeders."

At this stage, Fini adds, "an institutional response coordinated with the Regions involved is essential to deal with the emergency, contain the economic impact and preserve the production continuity of a strategic sector for agriculture already severely tested by other health emergencies such as swine fever".
