The medical tests were completed this morning, followed by the arrival in Cagliari in time for the training camp at the Crai Sport Center in Assemini . It was the first day as a rossoblù for Gennaro Borrelli, Fabio Pisacane's new center forward, who landed at 6:30 PM at Elmas Airport on a flight from Rome Fiumicino.

"I'm so happy," were his first words upon landing, greeted by some fans who immediately presented him with a red and blue scarf. "I want to make the most of the opportunity I've been given, and I can't wait to get started. I thank the coach and the president, who wanted me more than anyone else, as well as Director Angelozzi, whom I already knew."

Borrelli arrives as a free agent: he was registered with Massimo Cellino's Brescia until June 30th, when Brescia refused to sign him and thus lost all his players. He signed a four-year contract with Cagliari (with an option for a further season in the club's favor) and officially becomes the first new face of this summer transfer window , after the club exercised the buy-outs of Michel Adopo, Elia Caprile, and Roberto Piccoli.

Over the next few days, Borrelli and the entire squad will undergo tests and medicals in Assemini . Then on Sunday, they'll travel to Ponte di Legno for the pre-season training camp, which will last until July 22nd. The striker reunites with sporting director Guido Angelozzi, who brought him to Frosinone in 2022: with the Giallozzurri, he made 25 appearances and scored six goals across Serie A (one match on August 19, 2023 against Napoli), Serie B, and the Coppa Italia.
