Inauguration last night in Bonorva for Giuseppe Carta 's work dedicated to Zichi bread, typical of the town of Logudoro administered by Massimo D'Agostino .

Also present at the ceremony were the mayor of Banari, the artist's town, Francesco Basciu , the president of the Pro Loco di Bonorva, Luigi Deriu , and the junta led by D'Agostino, while the parish priest Don Pietro Faedda blessed the imposing sculpture that it represents the characteristic product which usually comes in thin, soft or crunchy flattened slices of durum wheat flour. To frame the suggestive ceremony at the entrance to the town a large crowd of Bonorvesi, Banarese and many tourists.

THE WORK - Made of steel and polychrome resin, the work is more than three meters high and stands out majestically on the valley of the extinct volcanoes of the Meilogu.

"When I was called by the Bonorva administration - explained Giuseppe Carta - it was a great gift for me: it was about working on an element like bread, which is part of our everyday life, nourishes all peoples of the earth and unites our families. It is the germination par excellence ”.

"With this work we wanted to celebrate our bread, a very strong identity element - detailed the mayor D'Agostino - Zichi represents our history and our traditions , and is the tool through which Bonorva has developed and consolidated the own economy. For us it means celebrating the work and sacrifice of our peasant ancestors in the fields, but also enhancing an extraordinary product, which with these characteristics is produced only in Bonorva. We hope that initiatives like this are a stimulus to companies for an even greater diffusion not only in Sardinia ".

“To work on the Zichi - Carta, the sculptor of the great fruits of the Earth, resumed - I was inspired by a finished product, which however comes from a sprout, from the ear. The Zichi is of a unique beauty: it was enough to almost reproduce it as it is on a larger scale. Placing my works in Sardinia has a double effect for me. It is my territory, and it is still an island to be discovered from an artistic point of view. His heart is really big ”.
