Extend the social bonus bills audience, raising the ISEE threshold to 25 thousand euros and with a mechanism that ensures more resources to the most vulnerable. Aid for businesses, both energy-intensive and SMEs. Measures to make the system more efficient.

The Council of Ministers has approved the decree against high bills , with "urgent measures in favor of families and businesses for tariff relief for the supply of electricity and natural gas, reduction of the tax burden, as well as for the transparency of retail offers".

After the rejection of the first draft of the measure, decided by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni because it was not "effective" enough, now about 3 billion are allocated, divided between families (1.6 billion) and businesses (1.4). "The resources - specified the Minister of Economy Giancarlo Giorgetti - come from the Energy and Environmental Services Fund, which avoids resorting to greater debt and deficit".

In particular, for citizens, the proposed solution reached during the summit extends the ISEE threshold of the social bonus from the current 9,530 euros to 25 thousand euros. A tiered mechanism is also foreseen according to which the lowest ISEE bands receive more substantial help : those with up to 9,530 euros of ISEE receive the current bonus and the new one, while from 9,530 to 25 thousand only the new contribution. "With this intervention - Meloni explained in a video - families with incomes up to 25 thousand euros of ISEE, therefore the vast majority, will be able to count on support of around 200 euros in the next quarter if they request it . It is a contribution that will rise to 500 euros for those who already meet the requirements for the social bonus, therefore households up to 9,530 euros".

As for the free market: «We have extended by two years the obligation for the vulnerable to switch to the free market». And there is the obligation of transparency for the managers : «We will finally have clear bills thanks to the obligation of transparency that we impose on the managers».

As for companies, the resources help both energy-intensive companies and SMEs: "We also help companies - continues Meloni - in particular we cut system charges for small and medium-sized companies, thus ensuring a reduction in future bills of around 20% ".

Finally, VAT: "In addition to a certain price of energy, the State has decided that it will waive VAT and will allocate the excess VAT to reducing bills". "We have also built a mechanism that will allow us to use, based on the future trend of energy prices, an additional 3 billion and 500 million euros from the Social Climate Fund".
