The final battle on the Zan bill will take place today in the Chamber when, after the general discussion, the vote on the non-passage of the articles will be passed. All attempts to reach an agreement have failed.
The proposal to postpone the examination of the Assembly by a week was wrecked at 20.30 during a group leader when the Democratic Party was certain that the trap would never be withdrawn. After the suspension of the discussion on the bill dictated by the summer break, waiting for the measure, arrived at Palazzo Madama last April, there is in fact the request of the Lega and Fratelli d'Italia to put to the vote the non-passage to ' examination of the articles, the so-called trap, to go directly to the final vote without examining the amendments.
Both votes, with a request signed by twenty senators, would be by secret ballot. The risk is that in the secret of the ballot box, in the absence of a political agreement, the bill will end up being sunk forever.
The Democratic Party promises battle and will try in every way to obtain the clear vote. At the end of a day that saw a whirlwind of meetings as the protagonist in the Upper Chamber, the appeal of the dem secretary Enrico Letta to "seek an understanding" fell on deaf ears. Letta urged everyone to do everything in order not to bury a law "requested above all by young people".
However, the attempt directly invested in Alessandro Zan, the deputy who gave the law its name, creaks from the beginning. Sent to the Senate with the mission of opening a series of meetings to find a square before passing through the Chamber, he immediately collects the refusal of the center-right, including that of Forza Italia.
