The culture of wine is at home in Sulcis Iglesiente , so much so that the local companies are looking for personnel and ready to guarantee training and work.

It happens when the territory boasts as many as 35 small, medium and large producers, often family-run wineries but of excellent quality and brands capable of standing tall in world markets.

This healthy cross-section of the Sardinian south-west, but also with contributions from central and northern Sardinia and the Peninsula, emerged powerfully in "Calici di Piazza", a convention celebrated in Carbonia among tastings, stories and traditions of the art of wine . With two particular aspects: the suggestion of the vineyards that often have the charm of looking towards the sea or of being just a few tens of meters from the shore, and the need for specialized personnel.

"The review - warns Alessandro Puddu, one of the organizers - has focused both on large companies that are always looking for specialists and are in line with training and updating processes, and on the small and magical realities of Sulcis that they conquer commercial spaces with sweat ".

Between Carloforte and Sant'Antioco, Masainas, Giba, Carbonia, Villamassargia and Gonnesa, it was thus possible to count 35 realities (many also present in Calici in Piazza), which offer about 1000 jobs. Enology and Sulcis "is a combination that has become rooted over the millennia", confirms Antonello Pilloni, historic president of the Cantina di Santadi . Even with modern knowledge, in Sant'Antioco, for example, sapling vines are still grown, free of foot and without irrigation. Unmissable charm, even from a tourist point of view, are the vineyards of Carignano less than a hundred meters from the sea.
