Berlusconi: "Merkel and I could mediate with Putin for peace"
The penalties? "They do not harm it, Russia is able to resist thanks to relations with China and India"

Silvio Berlusconi intends to mediate with Putin, also together with Angela Merkel.
He said this to Porta a Porta, answering those who asked him if he felt like trying to mediate for peace: “I could do it. And if there is one person who can work for me or at my side, it is Mrs Merkel . I would feel like trying to convince her with her ”.
The Forza Italia leader also spoke of the sanctions in Moscow: "I - he said - personally cannot deviate from the position of the Italian government, of Europe and of the whole West, but I am sorry and disappointed ".
Disappointed by the fact that Russia "instead of doing what I have always dreamed of, that is to join the EU, at that point decided to strengthen its relationship with China ".
The sanctions, he added, "do not harm Putin, who is absolutely capable of resisting as demands from China and India have developed and I do not see any loss for him".
