Without protection interventions, the beach of San Giovanni di Sinis will be covered by the sea and canceled by 2100. And it is only one of those that will be submerged on the central-western coast of Sardinia.

The dire prediction comes from the experts of the Wetland based solution project, which, the presentation reads, brings together " over 30 organizations specialized in wetlands that have joined in a revolutionary initiative to save, restore and manage these vital ecosystems" in the Mediterranean .

One of the monitored areas is the Gulf of Oristano. Here there are 6 large wetlands where, according to the models, the water level will rise by 840 millimeters in less than 80 years. “An elevation that would cost millions”, experts explain, and that would wipe out a large portion of Sardinia.
