A disaster. In their second match at the PalaSerradimigni against a struggling team, Dinamo lost again, handing Udine their first win of the season: 70-88. The fifth defeat in five games could lead to the dismissal of coach Bulleri or the cutting of some foreign players, and Johnson is perhaps the prime suspect given yet another disappointing performance. The fans' boos at the end of the game spoke volumes.
Report - Former players Bendzius and Gerosa (assistant coach) receive the commemorative jersey, while Mekowulu, who played two-thirds of the 2021/22 season, does not. Dinamo is in a tight spot, while Udine has more freedom: 0-8 after two minutes, and Thomas has already fouled former player Bendzius twice and also commits a third. The substitutions don't alter the momentum, and the visitors reach a double-digit lead: 7-17 after 6 minutes.
A superb Vincini put Sassari back in the game, both as a center attacking the rim and as a center in the starting five with two pivots, playing the "four" and hitting a three-pointer to make it 25-28 in the 12th minute. Johnson even managed to tie the score (28-28), but Bendzius hit two threes and two free throws to re-establish the lead: 30-36 in the 17th minute. Vincini and Johnson kept Udine from escaping.
Upon returning to the court, Bendzius jumps over Thomas, who is then called for a dubious fourth offensive foul. However, the Lithuanian's 12 straight points launch the breakaway: 13 points behind at the 26th minute. When the Italians enter (and especially Vincini), the fiasco is over; Udine is fired up and runs away: 49-68 at the 29th minute. Match over. The final quarter is pointless.
