An era of Italian television comes to an end: after 15 uninterrupted seasons at the helm, Barbara D'Urso will no longer guide "Afternoon 5" .

Mediaset made it official with a note: «Canale 5 and Barbara d'Urso have agreed that from next season the artist will no longer host Afternoon 5. Mediaset thanks Barbara for the professionalism she has shown and for the great work she has done at the helm of the afternoon program of the net. The artist's contract runs until December 2023. Canale 5 and Barbara D'Urso will proceed with the search for new editorial projects ».

And we will soon find out if the long marriage of the presenter with Cologno Monzese is over completely. In fact, the Mediaset schedules will be presented on 4 July.

Last June 2 D'Urso, at the end of the last episode of Afternoon 5, had made an appointment for the new season : «For you my friends, for you my friends who always follow me, always and forever, see you, obviously, in September». A month later, however, everything has radically changed. After fifteen seasons, the Dursi era came to an end in the afternoon of Canale 5. On the other hand, last autumn Pier Silvio Berlusconi declared that « programs that mix gossip, politics, gossip and crime news no longer work. I am the past ."

Mediaset has not formalized the cancellation of the programme. Among the many hypotheses there is also that of radically changing the format and entrusting the afternoon program of Canale 5 to Myrta Merlino , the face of La7.

During his career, D'Urso, born in 1957, has become one of the most representative faces of Mediaset, where he has hosted, among other programmes, three editions of Big Brother (from the third to the sixth and an episode of the fourth has surpassed listen to an evening of the Sanremo Festival 2004, an event that has never happened before in the history of television), Mattino Cinque and La Pupa e il Secchione . She was also an actress in films and TV series, among these the best known is Doctor Giò.
