"In 2021 the Sardinian economy grew , benefiting from the improvement of the epidemiological framework and the progressive advancement of the vaccination campaign".

This is what can be seen from the Bankitalia's annual report on 2021 "The economy of Sardinia".

"In particular - explains the Bank of Italy - the economic situation has improved significantly since the spring months: the estimates based on the quarterly indicator of the regional economy of the Bank of Italy (ITER) indicate a marked increase in economic activity in Sardinia from April to June, then continued to a lesser extent in the rest of the year ".

"The strengthening of consumption, the still weak rise in investments and the recovery of foreign demand, generalized to all the main productions, contributed to the growth of the economy - the report points out -".

On the other hand, the picture in the second half of the year was different: "The recovery of the product was however still partial and at the end of 2021 the regional GDP was, according to the estimates of Prometeia, about 4.5 per cent lower than to the figure prior to the Covid pandemic . At the end of last year, a non-negligible share of production activities in the region was still affected by the effects of the health crisis : according to information from Istat taken from the Survey on the situation and prospects of companies after the Covid-19 health emergency, around 6 per cent of regional companies declared that they had not yet resumed their activity ; in the same period of 2020 the figure was just under 10 per cent ".

SOLINAS - "Even in 2021, despite a very difficult and delicate economic situation, the economy of Sardinia grew , with a marked increase in economic activity, the strengthening of consumption, the rise in investments and the recovery of foreign demand for all the main productions. The numbers attest to the fruit of the great effort made by the Region in support of the productive activities and of the Sardinian families ", the comment of the governor of Sardinia Christian Solinas .

"Certainly there remain - observes Solinas - weaknesses linked to long-standing problems and the current international situation , but the data from the Bank of Italy, in addition to certifying a general state of health of our economy, spur us to continue the extraordinary effort underway since the beginning of the legislature ".
