Moving forward after great suffering is the most difficult thing that can exist. Because forgetting is impossible and tolerating pain is extremely complex. But celebrating the memory of the people you loved is necessary, because it allows you to feel close to them, even if for an instant: and with this very aim in Oristano on 11 and 27 May the "Roberto Sinis Trophy" and the “Laura Nurra Trophy”, in memory of the two young athletes who lost their lives on 8 June 2003 due to a road accident on the 131 highway, while returning from the Sardinian championships. Twenty years after the death of the boys from Oristano, the provincial committee of Fidal Oristano has decided to organize two track races reserved for the categories of Beginners and Boys which will take place in the field in via Santulussurgiu in Oristano that bears their name, with meeting at 16.30 and start at 17.

There will be many tests on which the athletes can test themselves in a totally renovated facility, with a new high-performance and highly comfortable track, officially inaugurated on 22 October last. There will be the opportunity to compete in the vortex, on the 50 meters, on the 60 meters and, above all, in the long jump and on the 200 meters, i.e. the favorite distances of Roberto Sinis and Laura Nurra.

The decision to focus the two events on the very young is anything but accidental. «Wishing we could have organized two events with the presence of top athletes», explains Giuseppe Stara, 47 years old provincial president of Fidal Oristano, «but this was not our aim: the beauty of these two trophies lies precisely in the fact that they will be the children are the protagonists of everything, because they represent our greatest hopes from a human and moral point of view even before a sporting one. And it is right for children to celebrate the memory of Roberto and Laura while having fun and discussing the memory of Roberto and Laura in a healthy and loyal way ».

Since that evening twenty years ago a lot has changed but certainly not the affection towards two young people who died prematurely who loved athletics deeply. Two young people who spent intense and unforgettable moments on that same track, putting themselves on the line and always giving their best to cultivate their dream. A dream that lives on thanks to the affection of those who loved them and of the many children who in that facility that is so important to them will live a day dedicated to solidarity and friendship, values that go beyond any success and which represent the most valuable lessons that sport is able to convey.
