Italy won the men's 4x400 relay and topped the medal table at the European Athletics Championships in Birmingham. This historic result follows Larissa Iapichino's gold medal in the long jump: the Italian, with a first-time jump of 7 meters, finished one centimeter ahead of England's Jazmin Sawyers, who took silver, and France's Hilary Kpatcha, who took bronze.

Alessandra Bonora, Anna Polinari, Alice Mangione, and Eloisa Coiro won bronze medals in the women's 4x400 at the European Championships in Birmingham. Gold went to the Netherlands, silver to Great Britain. Italy returns to first place in the medal table.
