Italy won the men's 4x400 relay with Edoardo Scotti, Luca Sito, Mohamed Soudassi, and Lorenzo Benati, ahead of Great Britain, and is first in the medal table, just ahead of the British, at the European Athletics Championships in Birmingham.

This historic result follows Larissa Iapichino's gold medal in the long jump: the Italian, with a first-time jump of 7 meters, finished one centimeter ahead of England's Jazmin Sawyers, who took silver, and France's Hilary Kpatcha, who took bronze.

Alessandra Bonora, Anna Polinari, Alice Mangione, and Eloisa Coiro won bronze in the women's 4x400. Gold went to the Netherlands, and silver to Great Britain.
