The countdown has begun for the 16th Pan CagliariRespira , the International Half Marathon of the City of Cagliari scheduled for Sunday 1 December . In forty days, thousands of athletes from all over Sardinia, the rest of Italy and abroad will compete in the 21.0975 km run by the Cagliari Marathon club which, starting and finishing at the Fiera , will embrace the city crossing (in a single lap) the historic centre, Sant'Avendrace, Lungomare Poetto and Parco di Molentargius. The route, on asphalt and substantially flat, will include a single stretch on a dirt surface, about a kilometre long, inside the Parco di Molentargius .
Registrations, open from September 2, will close at 9 pm on Monday, November 25. On Friday 29 (from 3 pm to 8 pm), Saturday 30 (from 10 am to 8 pm) and Sunday 1 December (from 8 am to 9 am) it will be possible to collect bibs. The start will be at 10 am, in Viale Diaz, near Piazza Marco Polo, and competitors will have a maximum time allowed of 2 and a half hours to complete the course.
After the start, the athletes will run along Viale Diaz, Via Roma, Largo Carlo Felice and reach Piazza Yenne before turning onto Corso Vittorio Emanuele, at the end of which they will arrive in Viale Trento and Viale Sant'Avendrace. From here they will reverse course and, after running along Viale Trieste, Via Roma and Viale Diaz, they will reach Viale Campioni d'Italia 1969/70, Viale Poetto and Lungomare Poetto, which they will run along from Marina Piccola to the Vecchio Ospedale Marino. They will then enter the Molentargius Park and the Saline, which they will cross until they reach Via La Palma, where they will take the cycle path to Molo Sant'Elmo. Here they will begin the last kilometre and, after completing Via Caboto a Su Siccu, they will reach the entrance to the Fair, in Piazza Marco Polo, and the finish line.
Pan CagliariRespira is organized under the patronage of Sport e Salute, the Municipal Administration of Cagliari, the Department of Sport, Heritage and Taxes of the Municipality of Cagliari, the Presidency of the Autonomous Region of Sardinia, the Hospital-University Company of Cagliari, the Order of Physicians of the Province of Cagliari, the Molentargius-Saline Park Authority, the Business Services Center and under the aegis and technical approval of the Sardinian Regional Committee Fidal.
In addition to the cash prizes for the first five in the general classification, for athletes in the categories “Junior”, “Promises”, “Senior Under” and “Over 35” and “Master” men/women, with a relative reserve equal to 25% of the prize money in favor of Italian athletes and “Italians equivalent”, the event will also be valid as the 15th Delio Serra Memorial, which will award the winner of the MM65 men’s category and subsequent ones. Awards will also be given to the first three men and the first three women in the Paralympic category.
Also this year, in addition to the half marathon, the organization has chosen to propose the KaraliStaffetta, a non-competitive race that will be run on the same route as the half marathon (starting at 10:05). Each team (which can be male, female or mixed) must be composed of two athletes, the first will run the first part of the route, of about 8 kilometers, the second the remaining 13. Also in this case, registrations will expire at 21:00 on November 25.
Instead, you can register until Saturday, November 30 for the SeiKaralis, solidarity, sport, health, the non-competitive city race where you can run or walk. The SeiKaralis will start at 10:05, following the half marathon and the relay, and will wind along Viale Diaz, Via Roma, Largo Carlo Felice, Piazza Yenne, Corso Vittorio Emanuele, Via Roma, Viale Diaz and Piazza Marco Polo.
Finally, reserved for children, the KidsRun, which will be run entirely inside the fair area at 3 pm on Saturday 30 November, the eve of the half marathon. Registrations open on Friday 29 November (from 3 pm to 8 pm) and on the day of the race (from 10 am to 2 pm).
