The San Gavino Monreale Literary Festival continues on Saturday, September 26th, with a day exploring personal stories, major social achievements, and the music that defined an era. The events will once again be held in the grand courtyard of Casa Mereu, with diversions between the street of murals and the Civic Market.
"The Literary Festival reminds us that San Gavino Monreale is a place of encounter. We meet authors and their stories, but also music, cinema, good food, and people in a beautiful atmosphere of celebration and interconnectedness. This edition confirms the vitality of an event that is anything but static, transforming itself by allowing new languages to flow through it, without losing its identity. All this thanks to the work of a community of enthusiasts who help bring the Festival to life and make it something more than a literary festival. When people and languages meet, culture becomes relationship and community," commented Riccardo Pinna , San Gavino Monreale's culture councilor.

The San Gavino Monreale Literary Festival is a cultural initiative promoted by the Municipality of San Gavino Monreale , with the support of the Autonomous Region of Sardinia, Fondazione di Sardegna and the organizational coordination of the Association of Local Authorities for Cultural and Entertainment Activities.
From the Via dei Murales, Bobbi Marcs and Michela Atzeni open the second day with the theme "Having a song in your head." Literature returns home to the courtyard of Casa Mereu. From 7:30 p.m., Marianna Aprile - a respected journalist and host of In Onda on La7 - discusses, together with Sara Perria, the book "The Promise - From Women's Suffrage to the First Woman at Palazzo Chigi, the Story of an Incomplete Revolution." Eighty years of women's history in Italy, from the birth of women voters in 1946 to the first woman at Palazzo Chigi, questioning how much these achievements are perceived as concrete victories in everyday life.

Starting at 8:15 PM, a double-header will feature writer and translator Elvira Mujčić with "The Season That Wasn't There," and Gigi Riva, a columnist for Domani, whose recently released book "There Was Love in Sarajevo" is now available. These two novels resonate intimately, exploring a period of history that has never been sufficiently explored, and shedding light on the tragedy of the Yugoslav wars in the 1990s. Valeria Deplano, professor of Contemporary History at the University of Cagliari, will be in conversation with the authors.
Writer Flavio Soriga and accordionist Ivana Busu will lead the audience in a short, popular lesson on classic crime fiction. Starting at 9:00 p.m., "Ballads of Cops and Robbers" will be a journey through Sardinian crime fiction through a personal account of what united (and what didn't) writers like Giulio Angioni, Salvatore Mannuzzu, Luciano Marrocu, Giorgio Todde, and Marcello Fois.

Davide Toffolo is the frontman of the band Tre Allegri Ragazzi Morti and has been a symbol of Italian independent rock for over 30 years. Starting at 10 pm, he and Nicola Muscas will perform an hour of acoustic songs and spoken word, focusing on the legacy of a 20th-century revolutionary: Giangiacomo Feltrinelli and his irregular life.

At 11.15pm we return to the Civic Market to dance and hang out: the actress Michela Atzeni will read excerpts from the text “Cosima” by Grazia Deledda accompanied by selections of tropical electronics, mutant cumbia, ritual percussion and digital psychedelia from the DJ set of Colombian DJ Maria Mallol, that is Santa Maria della psicodelia. The visual design is once again by Simone Mura. There will also be recreational activities for boys and girls. At 5:00 PM, Flavio Soriga will lead the writing workshop (for children aged 6 to 12) based on “Signor Salsiccia”.
