Polling stations open from 7 in Assemini , the only municipality on the ballot in local elections in Sardinia, where votes were cast in 39 centres. The turnout at 7 pm was 19.06% (at 9 it was 9.2%), lower than in the first round, when it was 25.61% and Assemini was the Sardinian municipality with the lowest participation in the polls ( 46.66% the final figure).

We vote today, Sunday 11 June, until 11pm. And tomorrow, Monday 12, from 7am to 3pm. Just cross out the name and surname of the candidate for mayor. Then the counting will begin.

The challenge is between Mario Puddu, a former grillino mayor now supported by civic and center-right lists, and Diego Corrias, who leads a Pd-M5s alliance with other center-left lists .

Two weeks ago Puddu obtained 37.79% of the preferences, Corrias stopped at 31.15%, snatching the runoff by just nine votes from the "official" candidate of the centre-right Niside Muscas.

Muscas had presented an appeal to the Tar on the outcome of the first round, claiming that 22 valid votes had been taken away from her, thus favoring Corrias. The administrative judges rejected it for a procedural issue : the appeal can only be presented once the electoral process is over, therefore after the runoff.
